What Is Progress Learning?

About LEAP Testing

Louisiana high school students take assessments to determine if they are ready for college and careers. The assessments can be compared to LEAP assessments in grades 3-8 to provide a consistent measure of student performance and growth from grades three through eleven.

The LEAP assessments are computer based tests (CBT) that are given to high school students three times throughout the school year.

  • The fall testing window is throughout the month of December.
  • The spring testing window is from the beginning of April to the middle of May.
  • The summer testing window is in late June.

The LEAP (Louisiana Educational Assessment Program) high school assessments report student results using five performance levels. There are six subject tests from four subject areas: English, mathematics, science and social studies.

How Do You Prepare for LEAP?

Connect Parents, Students, and Teachers

Form a team of success with regular communication between parents, students, and teachers.

Use Tools From Your Toolbox

The Louisiana Department of Education provides a learning toolbox of resources for teachers and families. Progress Learning can help by providing standards aligned practice to help students prepare for testing.

Identify Problems and Intervene Early

Regular assessments of standards-aligned material can help students make up knowledge gaps ahead of testing. Create individual study and practice testing in students’ weak areas.
