Unlock Student Potential: Practice STAAR® Assessments for Texas Now Available

We’ve got something special for you, Texas! You can now prepare your students for their STAAR® Assessments with Progress Learning practice STAAR® tests.

Texas STAAR® Tests

The purpose of the Texas student assessment program is to evaluate how well students have learned and can apply the knowledge and skills taught in the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS) for each grade or course. The state assessment program is entirely based on the TEKS, which is the statewide curriculum mandated for teaching.

Since 1980, Texas has implemented a statewide student assessment program, which was replaced by the State of Texas Assessments of Academic Readiness (STAAR®) in 2012. Students in grades 3-8 and high school take the STAAR, which is available in both paper and online formats.

Progress Learning Prepares Students for STAAR®

It’s that time of year! Time to start preparing your students for end-of-year state standardized assessments with quality test prep materials.

One of the most important components of preparing students is providing them with practice tests that actually look like the assessments they will encounter at the end of the year. By this, we mean practice tests that are similar in length, quality, content, and question types. This way students can practice for the whole experience and gain valuable insight into what the real assessment will be like and how prepared they are for it.

We are excited to announce that Progress Learning is now providing exactly these kinds of practice assessments for Texas! Our dedicated academics team has made sure that our practice questions look just like the questions students will encounter on their standardized assessments both in terms of content (what will be on the test) and question type (how the questions are asked).

These practice tests feature new STAAR® Online item types and are as close to the real thing as possible. They are an excellent way to give your students a closer look at what to expect on their end-of-year & end-of-course assessments and for you to gather insightful data to help them succeed.

This is just the latest addition to our extensive standards-aligned materials to help students achieve standards mastery.

We have practice tests available for all of the following: 3rd – 8th STAAR Mathematics, 3rd – 8th STAAR RLA, 5th Grade STAAR Science, 8th Grade STAAR Science, 8th Grade STAAR Social Studies, Algebra I STAAR EOC, English I STAAR EOC, English II STAAR EOC, Biology STAAR EOC, U.S. History STAAR EOC.

As the end of the school year approaches, we want to ensure our students retain the information they’ve learned throughout the year. One Educator’s Journey to Changing What Test Preparation Looks Like

By Ariel Speck For many of us educators, there is a similar pattern happening around this time of year: classroom instruction as we know it changes from Tier 1 instruction, riotous classroom discussions, math problems that take all class to collaboratively solve to test prep. For most of this blog contributor’s teaching career, test prep […]
